§ 12.20.010. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions are adopted:

    1.

    "Bicycle" means a vehicle that is designed to be operated on the ground on wheels, propelled primarily by human power transmitted to the wheels by a crank, pedals, chain and gears or similar mechanical system, including, but not limited to these devices commonly known as unicycles, bicycles and tricycles.

    2.

    "Operate" means to control, tow, push, move, set in motion, keep in motion or otherwise control, including coasting under the influence or force of gravity.

    3.

    "Street" means the right-of-way of any public highway, street, roadway or other right-of-way, including any sidewalk within such right-of-way or adjacent thereto.

    4.

    "Prohibited zone" means those areas described as follows:

    Area I: The Siletz City Hall parking lot adjacent to Buford Avenue and Bensell Drive.

    Area II: The Siletz Fire Department parking lot adjacent to Buford Avenue and Bensell Drive.

    Area III: Any and all sidewalks within the city limits of the City of Siletz.

    Area IV: The Siletz Valley Library parking lot.

    Area V: The Siletz Post Office parking lot.

    5.

    "Roller skates" means wheels affixed to the shoes or boots of a person, whether as a single unit or separate units attached thereto.

    6.

    "Sidewalk" means that portion of the street, or area contiguous thereto, intended primarily for public use by pedestrians.

    7.

    "Skateboard" means a vehicle propelled by gravity or human power, consisting of two or more wheels affixed to a riding surface, upon which the operator usually stands during movement.
